Five Question Friday!

It's been a while since I participated in 5 Question Friday but I decided to link up today.  Stop by Mama M's to join on in!

1. How many pets do you have?
One... and he's a little devil of a dog.  I love him but don't like him most of the time.  Why?  Because he barks at everything, will leave us 'presents' out of spite, and basically hates everyone.  Did I mention that he's also a nervous tinklier

2. If you could switch places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be?
This is a toughie.  There are lots of people who tell these unbelievable stories or make these wacky choices and I would love to be them for a day to know exactly what's going on.

3. What is your favorite money saving tip?
I try to wait a while before I make a purchase.  If I forget about it then I didn't really want it.  I also try to clip coupons but I'm super unorganized and forget to use them half the time.

4. What do you want your kids to be when they grow up?
Happy and healthy.  It doesn't matter to me what Abby is when she grows up as long as she's happy with who she is.

5. What is your favorite quote?
There are a lot of quotes that I love but the one that I've used most often in life is... 'Sharing is caring.'  Not sure where it came from (could be from Barney for all I know) but I've been using since my siblings were younger and would fight over toys.  I still use it sometimes and they usually laugh or roll their eyes!

I'm Back... but not for long...

HELLO Bloggy Friends!

Oh, how I have missed all of you!  I have been running around... very much like a chicken without a head. We've been traveling... Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey.  Then there were play dates and a fundraiser to get ready for this weekend.  Yup, I'm leaving for PA tomorrow to fundraise for the 3-Day.  I am POOPED!!

We did have a great time and Abby got to meet some new relatives.  I am a huge family person.  I think it's so important to know where you came from and there is nothing like the support that family can give you.  So, seeing Abby play with cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Great Grandparents... it was heartwarming.

Most importantly... I think our little devil dog may have finally warmed up to her.

Ok... so maybe I'm being a little too optimistic since he was on a leash and had no choice but a mom can dream can't she?!?

I hope everyone is doing great and hope to catch up with all of you soon!

Five Question Friday!

1. What is one thing you miss the most about childhood?
Summer vacation!  Summer vacay was so relaxing and seemed so long when I was a child.  Playing with friends, being in the pool, and having no worries!

2. Are you still friends with your friends from high school?
Some of them.  My best friend and I have known each other since 5th grade and are still very close... she's more of a sister than a friend!

3. Is there a catch phrase, cliche, or word that just drives you bonkers every time you hear it?
I used to have this terrible habit of saying, "You know what I mean," when I was trying to express my opinion.  Sometimes I would say after every sentence.  I didn't even realize it until my dad mentioned it to me and now I cringe whenever I say it, which is not very often.

4. What is one thing that you think symbolizes America...besides "Old Glory"?
Definitely our military men and women!  They make a tremendous sacrifice for us and our country would not be what is without them.

5. What are your 4th of July weekend plans?
Not sure yet but hopefully seeing some fireworks!

Five Question Friday!

I hope everyone is looking forward to this weekend and spending time with the Dads in your life!  We have our fundraiser that me and my sisters have been working hard on so I'll be sure to let you know how we did.  I'll also let you know how Abby did since her Uncle is babysitting her for the first time... should be interesting!

Now, it's time for Five Question Friday!  Pop on over to Mama M's to link up!

1.  What is your favorite thing about summertime?
I love summer... mostly because I don't have to worry about snow!  Here in Maryland we had about 70 inches this past winter... ugh!  Summer means nice driving weather so we can visit who ever we want without worrying about it.  Love it!

2.  What is your ideal retirement location (if money didn't matter)?
Where wouldn't matter as long as we are close to family.  My ideal retirement would be spent traveling... stateside and internationally!

3.  Do you live in the same town you grew up in?
Nope... but I wish I did.  Growing up I went to the same schools as my parents, had teachers that my parents had or went to school with, and hung out with kids whose parents knew mine.  I miss that sense of community.  My dad lives on the same block he did growing up and most of the same people are there too.  I didn't appreciate much when I was younger, but it also meant that everyone looked out for you.

4.  What nervous habit did you have as a child that you kicked to the curb before becoming an adult?
At first I couldn't think of anything but then it hit me!  My mom used to always tell me that when I was a toddler, I would also pick my toes!  I know... kinda gross but true.  Apparently I hated lit and I would sit and clean in between my toes!  I'm happy to say that I have kicked that habit and actually have no memory of ever doing it.

5.  What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you while on the job?
Oh my... I cringe thinking about it!  Let me start by saying, I have a highly reactive stomach which leads to many embarrassing situations.  While working for a cosmetic company in a department store my stomach decided to be reactive.  So, I said I had to go to the stock room but instead went to the bathroom.  I came back and started helping customers.  After I was done helping my customers, a coworker came over and told me I had a toilet paper tail!  She was nonchalant about it, thankfully, but I was mortified!!!  I am so happy she told me and I didn't walk around all night like that!  Embarrassing!

Five Question Friday

It's Friday so that only means one thing... time for Mama M's 5 Question Friday!  As always, hop on over to her site to join in!

1.  What do you think makes a good friend or friendship?
A good friend

2.  What is the last thing you bought and later regretted?
This happens all of the time.  Just this past week I bought labels that were too big, clothes for my husband that were too small, and sandals for my daughter that hurt her feet.  All of that can be returned and is really small potatoes compared to our big regret.  Our biggest purchase that we regret is our bedroom set.  The dresser and night stands are discolored for no reason and the mattress slumps in the middle.  It's only a couple years old and looked so pretty when we got it but none of it seems to be very good quality.

3.  Have you ever had a prank played on you?
I can't remember anyone ever playing an elaborate one on me although I've played a few of my own.  Hmm... I really can't think of one right now.  I'll have to ask my husband later if he remembers any (my memory is not that good so I often tap into my husband's brain!).

4.  What is your favorite theme part?
Wow, I haven't been to an amusement part in years!  I used to love them, especially the roller coasters!  I would have to say that Six Flags in New Jersey... the one with the Safari... was always my favorite.

5.  Have you ever seen someone else give birth?
No way!  I didn't even want to see myself give birth!  I even made my husband promise he wouldn't look.  That changed once I was actively pushing because at that point the last thing I was worried about was who was looking!

Have a great weekend!

Five Question Friday

fIt's Five Question Friday over at Mama M's!  There are some great questions so stop by her site if you want to join in!

1.  Do you have an IPhone, and if so,  how do you get apps and what are your favorites?
No IPhone for me.  Don't get me wrong, I love technology, but I'm not the type of person who texts all day or needs the internet all the time.  However, I reserve the right to change my opinion (sometimes it takes me a while to jump on the wagon!).

2.  What is your fondest memory of K-3rd grade?
I will always remember our crossing guard, Whitey.  He was the nicest man and a friend of my Grandfather's.  I have no idea what his real name was or if that was his last name but he was so kind!

3.  What makes you cringe at the thought of touching?
I cringe, and usually I am stopped by fear, at the thought of getting close enough to kill a spider.  I don't want them on me, near me, I don't even want to touch them with shoe!

4.  If you could have any celebrity show up on your doorstep who would it be and why?
Hmm, tough one.  I would love to hang out with Kendra!  She's so hysterical and I give her props for being real when she was pregnant!

5.  What would you see is your best physical feature?
Well, today my best physical feature is my waist!  Working out and eating better is paying off (or my shirt is very flattering) because I noticed today that I actually have a waist.  It was MIA for a while during and after pregnancy and I'm so happy it's back!

Five Question Friday

Happy Friday Everyone!  As always, you can join in the Five Question Friday fun by hopping on over to Mama M's!

1.  Take your pick... date night, girls night our or night out alone?
This is a tough one.  Right now, date night because we haven't had one since October!

2.  Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
Close but not quite!  I just tried to see if maybe now I could... nope.  I'm not that talented but maybe if I practice......

3.  What is your favorite flower and why?
IMG_0069.JPG.jpg
I love roses but I also love Stargazer Lilies.

4.  If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
I would tell myself that nothing lasts forever, not the good or the bad, and sometimes the things that make you most crazy are the things you miss the most.

5.  If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
It depends how much I won.  In reality, if I was lucky enough to win the lottery it would be for about $20!  If that's the case, then I would probably grab a pizza.  Now, if I was actually lucky enough to hit it big I would probably have a heart attack so the first thing I would do is be rushed to the ER!

Five Question Friday

It's 5 Question Friday!  If you want to join in on the fun, hop on over to Mama M's and link up!

1.  What is your worst memory of your siblings?
My worst memory is from when my brother and I were home alone and he decided to chase me around with his pet snake.  I actually grabbed a kitchen knife and the chase proceeded down the stairs and outside. I am so surprised my Aunt who lived downstairs didn't call the police!

2.  What was your naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something you did.  No pawning it off on someone else).
I was an angel and really can't think of any naughty things I did.  Totally kidding.  There are actually so many to pick from that it's a little embarrassing!  My poor parents... I hope Abby is nothing like me between the ages of 12 and 17!  For the record, I grew up to be a very responsible level headed adult... surprisingly, going to college made me grow up!  So, since I couldn't pick just one, here's my short list...
  • house party
  • college party at 15
  • college party at 15 and then sneaking into someone grandfather's house (who wasn't home) until morning
  • pulling the wool over my mother's eyes while a friend got yelled at by my dad for being drunk (I swear mom, only she was drinking!)
  • watching my mom leave for work and then going home instead of school
  • stealing (once, getting caught, NEVER again)

I cringe remembering all this badness!

3.  Where do you go to relax?
My couch.  It's new and has one of those chaise lounges attached... that's my spot!!! I love plopping down at night and catching up on some tv with my hubbins!

4.  What was the last thing you won?
$20 on a scratch off!  Except, it's a New Jersey lottery ticket and I live in Maryland so I haven't cashed it in yet.

5.  If you could be on a game show, which one would you choose?
I'm terrible at trivia and thinking under pressure so my choices are slim.  I would have to say Deal or No Deal but I'd probably 'deal' pretty quickly!

Five Question Friday

I can't believe that it's already Friday!  Where did this week go?

Now onto five question Friday.  Click the link below if you want to participate!

1.  If you could, would you go back to high school?
As nice as it would be to go back to a time when I had no bills or real responsibilities, I'd have to say no. Classes, trying to fit in... I'd much rather be where I'm at now.

2.  If a genie appeared and granted you two wishes, what would they be?  (And, no saying "more wishes".)
The very first thing I would ask for is enough money to make me and my family comfortable.  I'd buy a house that had lots of guest rooms, at least 3 bathrooms, a huge dining room and kitchen so that when family visits no one would feel like they needed to stay in a hotel.  I would also need a nice big fenced in backyard so my dog had enough room to play.  I would also make sure my brothers and sisters had reliable cars so there would be no excuse for them not to come and visit!
My second wish would be for truth.  I wish that politicians, drug companies, and big businesses would be honest.  Now, I don't want to get controversial but do you ever feel that the people who are in the position to make the biggest change are too driven by their own greed?  I really wish that they would just be upfront.

3.  What kids shows do you secretly like?
None!  Abby is only one and I don't put cartoons on for her yet.  I'm sure this will change over the years!

4.  What is your beverage of choice?
Mountain Dew! I am addicted!  I am trying to turn over a new leaf and be healthier so I am proud to say that it's been 3 days since my last Dew... I miss it though!

5.  What is something that you would change about yourself (or are working to change in yourself)?
I am truly trying to be healthier.  Abby is starting to want to eat whatever I eat and I want to teach her healthy habits.  So, slowly, I'm weeding out the bad stuff.  I have one problem though... do you have to be hungry to be healthy?!?

Five Question Friday

It's 5QF again!  Here we go!
My Little Life
1.  What was the first car you owned?
I know everyones going to be so jealous... the first car I owned was a 1981 Toyota Corolla.  Yup, born the same year as me!  It cost $600 and was the loudest car in town... seriously, you could here me coming from a mile away!  Surprisingly, someone is still driving it around!

2.  What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
I don't really get embarrassed... I am proud to know the lyrics! Mama M's vlog reminded of a funny story though.  I know all the words to most Salt n Pepa songs.  The one day I was taking my two sisters to the mall and the song Shoop came on.  Shoop is a little before my sisters time but I love that song!  So I started blasting the radio and singing.  They were laughing but then I remembered that for some reason I had a microphone in my backseat (don't ask... I'm a little crazy!).  So I whipped out the microphone and really jammed!  We still laugh about it to this day!

3.  Have you ever had stitches?
Only when I had my appendix out.  I'm not sporty so I don't have any good war stories.

4.  What was your first job?
My first job was a recreation counselor over the summer but I was only 14 so I don't really remember.  I basically just played with kids all day so I was just a glorified baby sitter.

5.  Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
I'm really not a big Sesame Street fan so I have to side with Abby here and go with Elmo!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Friday!

Woo Hoo!! Happy Friday! I've been getting ready for Abby's party tomorrow so it has been a busy busy week. The amount of cleaning I did today was insane! But it will all be worth it once everyone is here and we can PARTY!!
Well, it's Friday so that means it's time for Mama M's 5QF. Feel free to jump in on the fun!

1. What words do you use on your blog/online that you don't use in real life?

Hmm... I really can't think of anything since I'm so new to blogging. I pretty much write the way I talk. Actually, that's not true, at home my language can be a little more colorful! I would have to say words like lol or lmao (I know, they're actually acronyms!). In real life I would actually laugh my a** off!

2. Do you still write checks?

I do but only to pay certain bills. I'm bad at budgeting and get nervous I won't have money when auto pay tries to take it.

3. Who was your favorite President and why?

I hate to admit this but I can't stand politics and rarely know what's going on in the world. It's terrible and I should try to pay more attention. So, I have no favorite.
4. Are you a yeller? Everyone should be.... it's not good to keep emotions bottled up! If a little yelling gets you through the day more power to you!

5. Have you ever dumpster dived? Literally, no... but if you're referring to seeing a perfectly good piece of furniture in need of a good home then I am shamelessly guilty!

Five Question Friday

I've decided to jump in on a meme going on at My Little Life. Click her button if you want to join the fun!

1. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
I honestly couldn't think of an answer so I texted my Hubbins for his input... here's how that went:

Me:  If someone were to make a movie about me who would play me?
Him:  Why? Are they?
Me:  yup... who?
Him:  No one could play my wife, you would play yourself
Me:  awe.. why are you scared.. this isn't a trick question
Him:  Who would play me?
Me:  I'm not answering til you do
Him:  Scarlet Johanson I guess.  I think she could play you.

Hmmm... I look nothing like her... maybe he shouldn't have answered or I shouldn't have asked.

2. Did you ever go to summer camp?
Nope.  I'm not a camper.  I'm not a fan of bugs or roughing it.  I think there was one year that I asked my parents if I could go but I wasn't too upset when they said no.  I guess deep down I knew it wasn't for me.

3. What sends you running and screaming in the other direction?
Spiders! I am not just scared but terrified.  I can spot them from clear across the room and I am so afraid that I can't even get close enough to kill them.  Of course, I tend to spot them when I'm alone which leads to my theory that they are out to get me.  Seriously, I come across more spiders in a day than most people do in a year.  For example, one fell down my shirt at Babies R Us the other day.  I panicked! I wanted to rip my shirt off right there.  Thankfully, for me and everyone around me, I composed myself before that and was able to make it to the hallway by the restroom before I almost stripped to make sure the creeper was gone!

4. What is something you do that drives your spouse nuts?

In a good way or bad?!?
Just kidding.... there are two things that drive my Hubbins crazy.  I leave cabinets open all the time and I never put the toilet paper on the holder.  He gets so annoyed by the latter that mini wars have started in our house.  His first plan of attack was to just leave the empty roll on the floor of the bathroom.  That didn't bother me or teach me a lesson so now he hides the roll in strange places... a drawer, my purse, etc.  I just hide it back! Can't teach an old dog new tricks!

5. What is currently your favorite song?
It changes with my mood but I think my most favorite is Colby Caillat "Bubbly."
